Lufthansa has announced that it will start once weekly service between Dusseldorf, in the heart of the Rhine-Ruhr region, to Newquay in Cornwall.

Cornwall is one of Britain's main tourist areas with attractions like the Eden Project, Tate St Ives, Poldark Mine and several National Trust houses. In addition there are the finest surfing beaches in Europe and the gourmet delights of Padstow.

Dusseldorf is the capital of North Rhine-Westphalia, has some excellent museums and galleries and is a convenient airport for visits to Cologne.
